Vetnique Founder Dr. James Bascharon Named EY 2025 Midwest Entrepreneur of the Year
Vetnique Founder Dr. James Bascharon Named EY 2025 Midwest Entrepreneur of the Year
Recognition honors the veterinarian-turned-entrepreneur who transformed a kitchen-crafted supplement into a global pet wellness brand
NAPERVILLE, IL / ACCESS Newswire / June 17, 2025 / Ernst & Young LLP has named Dr. James Bascharon, DVM, Founder & CEO of Vetnique, the 2025 Midwest Entrepreneur Of The Year®, recognizing visionary leaders whose innovations are reshaping industries and communities.
Dr. Bascharon launched Vetnique in 2012 after compounding the company's flagship product Glandex®, the first vet-formulated anal gland supplement for dogs, in his own kitchen. What began as a single Amazon listing has since grown into a global, vet-recommended portfolio of pet health solutions for nose-to-tail support.
Today, Vetnique products are stocked in thousands of veterinary clinics and major retailers including Walmart and PetSmart, and the brand's rapid growth has earned it global recognition.
"I started Vetnique to solve real problems that I saw come through my door every day as a veterinarian," said Dr. Bascharon. "Being honored as Entrepreneur Of The Year is a personal and professional honor. I'm humbled and grateful, but it's also a testament to the incredible team on this journey alongside me at Vetnique who believed that a home-grown idea could become something more."
Now in its 40th year, Entrepreneur Of The Year is the pre-eminent competitive business award for entrepreneurs and CEOs. An independent panel of judges selected Dr. Bascharon for his entrepreneurial spirit, purpose-driven growth, and sustained value creation.
The award ceremony was held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in Chicago. As a regional winner, Dr. Bascharon will advance to the national level, where US winners will be revealed in November at EY's Strategic Growth Forum®, one of the country's most prestigious gatherings of high-growth companies. The overall US winner then competes for the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ title.
